The June storm of 2020 left homes riddled with damage in Clarks Grove, MN. Rooftop Solutions was on the scene because of our location West of Hartland and near Freeborn. Clarks Grove is a town that has been through the wringer from a 2017 storm that brought a tornado with it. The damage was extensive and I will never forget seeing it. Communities like Clarks Grove banded together to right the ship. Nobody worries about looting in small towns, everybody takes care of each other.
Clarks Grove was also hit with hail in the June of 2020 storm. Roofing companies from hours away blanketed Clarks Grove. Being a local company means a lot, and I noticed many of these long-range roofing businesses got the cold shoulder.
After re-roofing several houses from the 2017 storm I realized what happens when a roofing company from far away shows up. The quality of the workmanship really suffers. My “in” with Clarks Grove roofing wasn’t because I’m a smooth-talking door-knocking salesperson. It was my connection with people in the community. Thompson Sanitation is where my dumpsters come from when we have jobs to do. I purchased my lawn and acreage equipment from a local salesman in town. I buy a large chunk of my roofing supplies from a lumber yard down the road and it just happens two of my employees live in Clarks Grove as well. We still have jobs for 2021 in Clarks Grove because of word of mouth. The best kind of advertising.
The Second Storm In Clarks Grove
Clarks Grove got hit with two storms the first one in June 2020 and the second was the influx of roofing contractors. I remember it pretty well, especially after visiting homes. These outfits came from Northfield, and who knows where else. These guys would drive around in their clearly marked trucks just trying to catch an unsuspecting homeowner outside, People soon figured that out and shut their doors when those trucks neared, The salesman would lurk through alleys without a truck now! Some homeowners finally just got worn down and settled “just do our roof!” The contract was signed and that was it and the last they ever saw of the salesman unless collection was needed.

We supplied roofing for many homes in Clarks Grove in 2020. On one block we almost did one entire side of the street and we have some to finish up for 2021! We don’t have some magic formula the keys to our success were keeping people informed, repairing things that needed repairing, and doing what we said we would do! Sounds pretty basic right?
